Manufacture's Day
On Wednesday August 1st, Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, time to relax, sleep in, sit back, eat and drink, met and mingle, sit back, eat and drink, met and mingle, and enjoy Manufacture's Day! Every Wednesday of All-4-Fun's is set aside to do all the above mentioned. Some even took the opportunity to shop and even raft the Arkansas River a few miles away. The day begins usually with a parade thru the host city. Since Salida was about 5 miles to the south, logistically it wasn't going to work. The manufacture's set up under and around the 'big top' early for the day.
Manufactures were on hand for tips and deals... |
It was very busy under the tent, especially when it rained... |
Anyone who wanted to have the rig shined up for a few minutes (before the layers of dust), also set up around 10am. Well, once again this year's Show-N-Shine was all about money and looks and not which rig was actually on the trail for the past 3 days giving their owner's pleasure. I entered once again for fun, but I know others even in my CJ class who had more 'Jeepers Jeeps', then some of the recognized winners. I applaud the real 'winners' in each class who were not recognized. It's your ingenuity and spark for building a common man's (and woman's) rig that gives you pleasure on the trails, then one with an open pocketbook.

Many good-lookin' rigs... |
It's all about doing it right, not doing it with money... |
There was no limit on character in this event... |
Sponsored by Pro 4x4, the Kid's Games Committee (Patrol 10) entertained the kids from 11am to 1pm. All the kid's got to participate in many skill games in hope of a trophy that night, and it looked like they had a blast. Corri Marshall of Scott and Justine Marshall got a 3rd place trophy at one of the games--yea! Free beer and a BBQ were close at hand from 11am to 4pm. Along with free soda all day from www.muddytires.com. A thunderstorm rumbled in about 2pm too wet down the dusty roads, but soon moved off and the sun was back out again.
Kid's Games was a great hit! |

Every kid got prizes for playing thanks to PRO 4x4... |
Adults also had some fun with 2 motorized games set up by Patrol 21 south of the 'big top'. A blindfold driving course, and a belt toss game were alot of fun! Numerous manufactures were around from 10am to 4pm. They included (not a complete list): Bestop, Off-Again, Discount Tire, BF Goodrich, Warn, Ramsey Winch, Bits of Silver, Currie Enterprises, MORE, Muddytires.com, Pro 4x4, Pull Pal, Stage West, Terra Flex, Tomken Machine, Optima Batteries, and more....

At 5pm, Jerry Ross, and his BBQ Committee (Patrol 11) served up another great meal!! Then around 7pm under the 'big top', all of the Kid's and Adult Games, and show and shine awards were handed out. A fun relaxing day from the trail!!
Great hamburgers and hot dogs, beans, potato salad, chips, soda and beer for lunch and dinner!! |
