*Note: Yep lots of text the same from previous years...hey it's MOAB!

Moab, Ahhhhhhhhhhh, Ahhhhh, Moab! Moab, Moab, Moab!  MOAB, It's a place like no other!  Slickrock jeepin' is quite different from any Colorado jeepin'.  With 'sandpaper' like traction, only gravity is your enemy. The beautiful reds, whites, and peach colors of the rocks add to the scenery of every trail you challenge.  We are so fortunate to be only 7 hours away here in Denver.  If you go after Memorial Day and before Labor Day, it's a hot one, so prepare for it and bring lot's of water!  Rafters, Hikers, Mountain Bikers, and Jeepers know the area for it's wonderful red rock scenery, and 'Moab Slickrock'.  Many of you already know, as you have 'been there', it's a playground for grown-ups.  No other place in the country comes close; Moab is 'Jeepin Heaven'!

The HoboJeepers met up as early as Thursday May 24th, and ventured west on I-70 towards the 'Slickrock Gods' for the long anticipated 2007 Memorial Day Weekend.  With drive days on Thursday and Monday, it leaves 3 days (and one night) of trails in Moab!!

I stop at the Dillon Lake Overlook off I-70 to wait for Paul...

There was still a lot of snow from recent storms up on Vail Pass...

Ahhhhhh......Slickrock paradise!!!

Slickrock and views everywhere...

Unique rock formations...

For the past few months we have anticipated this trip to MOAB (don't we all)!  I arrived Thursday afternoon and set up camp about 2:30pm (6.5 hour trip) just SW of Moab.  I relaxed in the afternoon shade and readied for a few fun filled days of slick rock and scenery, bring on Moab!

Fun trails, like Cliff Hanger at 'nite'...

Base Camp was nice and cool in the shade of the Cottonwoods...

Courthouse Towers in Arches National Park a few miles North of Moab...

One warning for tent campers: for some reason, thousands of very small white larve (gnats maybe) were able to infiltrate my tent netting and invade my tent in 2003, what a feeling waking up to that!  I was camped under a Tamarisk tree, I hear the larva come up from the moist saline soil once a year, well thousands did that year!

Cacti in full bloom...

Along with the unique bio-colony of Crypto soil...

This is very unique to the area,  it is a Cyan bacterial organism

that clings to sand grains, please don't drive or walk on the Crypto soil.

Education is key--please tell others what you know...

Please learn more about this fascinating bio colony by clicking HERE...

I did mention the beautiful slick rock right????

How bout' some steak for dinner?!?!...

Spectacular views...

Canyonlands National Park-Needles District-way SW of Moab...

The weather was nice the 1st 2 days, then hot (low 90's) Sunday, but it's almost summer in Moab.  For 3 fun days, we followed 4 different trails up and over numerous obstacles, ledges, and fields of slick rock!  From 4-Rated Steel Bender Trail, on to 3.5-Metal Masher Trail and a 4-Rated Cliff Hanger 'Night Run', finally building to the tour on Sunday- 4-Rated Elephant Hill Trail in Canyonlands National Park--Needles District, we certainly got our fill!!  Aaahhhh-Moab!!
